Assume A Smarter Phone Position
Christian says: The average head weighs 10-12lbs and recent research has found that the poor posture we assume when texting means that the forces exerted on our neck and spine reach 60lbs the equivalent of having an eight-year-old on your shoulders.
This neck tension can lead to so-called cervicogenic headaches, and in some cases to a condition called Occipital Neuralgia, where the nerves that run from the base of the neck up through the scalp become inflamed.
Christian suggests: To avoid text-neck headaches , sit back and upright when using your phone.
“Hold it up to eye level and be aware of keeping your head up in a straight line.
Headache Behind The Eye Treatment
Learning to avoid your triggers may prevent headaches or make them less painful. If you do get one, there are many kinds of treatments.
Medication for headache behind the eye
Over-the-counter pain medicine can ease occasional headaches. It may even help with migraines if you take it early enough. Doctors often recommend acetaminophen or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen or naproxen . But remember that taking them too often can trigger overuse headaches.
If you get frequent tension headaches, your doctor may prescribe medication. Antidepressants like amitriptyline help many people.
Sometimes, prescription drugs are the only things that will ease migraine pain. Some of the most common are triptans such as almotriptan , eletriptan , rizatriptan , sumatriptan , and zolmitriptan . They help most people within 2 hours if taken early enough. People who get chronic migraines often take medicine like beta-blockers or antidepressants every day to help cut back on how many they have.
Breathing pure oxygen may bring relief of cluster headaches. Injected triptans like sumatriptan and lidocaine nose drops might also help. Some people take medicines such as verapamil or prednisone to prevent attacks.

How To Get Rid Of A Headache Or Migraine In Just Two Minutes
Thousands of people said the advice for migraines and headaches from YouTuber Kamil really worked, with one awe-struck admirer calling him a “wizard”.
A YouTuber has shared his rather unusual method for getting rid of a headache or migraine – and people are swearing by it.
Kamil, who posts through channel Kamil’s View, says he can cure your pain in two minutes with just three questions.
In his online video tutorial he repeats the questions several times – claiming by the end of it, the headache should have disappeared.
In his video, seen more than 1.7million times, Kamil says: “I’m going to ask you a few questions, and I will ask you those questions a few times.
“Every time I ask you the question I really want you to have a look and answer the question.”
After instructing the viewer to think about their headache he asks: “Where is your headache?
He then follows this with “What colour is it?” and “What shape is it?”
After repeating the questions four times he says: “By now it should be gone.”
While the method may come across as unorthodox thousands of people are swearing by it.
Itscrazyhols wrote: “Omg it works thank u I liked your vid.”
JourneyWithJC1 wrote: “Are you a wizard? It worked!”
And SweetestHoney861 wrote: “I’m pleasantly freaked out.”
Explaining how the method works in a separate post, the self-labelled life coach said: “Most headaches are actually created by you – by your own mind.”

Transcutaneous Vagus Nerve Stimulation
Transcutaneous vagus nerve stimulation is a fairly new treatment that uses low-voltage electrical currents to stimulate a nerve in the neck.
The aim is to relieve pain and reduce the number of cluster headaches.
You place a small handheld device on the side of your neck. Your specialist will show you exactly where.
Gradually increase the strength of the electrical current until you can feel small muscle contractions under your skin. Hold the device in position for about 90 seconds.
TVNS can be used to treat cluster headaches when you get them, and can also be used between attacks to try to prevent them happening. But TVNS may not help everyone with cluster headaches.
For more information, read the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence guidance about transcutaneous vagus nerve stimulation.
There’s also a new portable TVNS device called gammaCore. NICE has said that gammaCore can be effective for some people and reduce the need for medicines.

Tension Headache Vs Migraine
It can be a bit hard to see and know the real difference when it comes to a tension headache vs migraine, as these can have similar and almost identical symptoms.
Migraines are different from a tension headache, as a migraine can mess with a persons vision and light sensitivity, make a person throw up and an overall nauseous feeling.
The head pain from a migraine tends to be more of an intense throbbing pain, which gets worse if you try to move around.
In contrast, the pain from a tension headache is more stable head pain that does not get worse with physical movement.
A tension headache also does not make you especially more sensitive to certain sounds, smells or lights around you.
What Medicines Help Relieve Migraine Pain
For mild to moderate migraines, over-the-counter medicines that may help relieve migraine pain include:
- an acetaminophen, aspirin, and caffeine combination
People who have more severe migraines may need to try abortive prescription medicines. A medicine called ergotamine can be effective alone or combined with other medicines. Dihydroergotamine is related to ergotamine and can be helpful. Other prescription medicines for migraines include sumatriptan, zolmitriptan, naratriptan, rizatriptan, almotriptan, eletriptan, and frovatriptan.
If the pain wont go away, stronger pain medicine may be needed, such as a narcotic, or medicines that contain a barbiturate . These medicines can be habit-forming and should be used cautiously. Your doctor may prescribe these only if they are needed and only for a short period of time.

What Is A Headache Behind The Eyes
A headache behind your eyes can come with other symptoms. They can be a sign of a cluster headache, tension headache, or even sinus headaches that recur if you have allergies or sinus problems.
When you feel stressed or tense, headache symptoms can arise. Some may go away with an over-the-counter painkiller, but others, like migraines, may become too severe for you to continue working or enjoying time to yourself. Frequent issues like these can indicate a more serious condition, and so you should consult with your doctor.
Seek Professional Care For Cervicogenic Headaches
People suspected of having cervicogenic headache should be carefully assessed by their doctor to exclude other primary or secondary causes of headaches.
Nerve blocks are used both for diagnostic and treatment purposes. If numbing the cervical structures abolishes the headache, that can confirm the diagnosis of cervicogenic headache and also provide relief from the pain.

Causes Of Headache Behind The Eye
These headaches often begin with pain around your eye and temple. They can spread to the back of your head. You might also have an aura, which can include visual signs like a halo or flashing lights that sometimes come before the pain starts.
These are the most common types of headaches. They usually cause a dull pain on both sides of your head or across the front of your head, behind your eyes. Your shoulders and neck may also hurt. Tension headaches might last 20 minutes to a few hours.
These cause severe pain around your eyes, often around just one eye. They usually come in groups. You may have several of them every day for weeks and then not have any for a year or more before they start again.
Along with the pain, you may also have watery eyes, congestion, and a red, flushed face. The attacks last 30 to 60 minutes and are so strong that you may be restless and can’t stand still while they happen. Cluster headaches aren’t very common and mostly happen in men.
A sinus infection can cause a headache around your eyes, nose, forehead, cheeks, and upper teeth. This is where your sinuses are. Youâll often also have a fever, congestion, and a thick nasal discharge. The pain usually gets worse throughout the day.
What Medications Are Used To Relieve Migraine Pain
Over-the-counter medications are effective for some people with mild to moderate migraines. The main ingredients in pain relieving medications are ibuprofen, aspirin, acetaminophen, naproxen and caffeine.
Three over-the-counter products approved by the Food and Drug Administration for migraine headaches are:
- Excedrin® Migraine.
- Advil® Migraine.
- Motrin® Migraine Pain.
Be cautious when taking over-the-counter pain relieving medications. Sometimes overusing them can cause analgesic-rebound headaches or a dependency problem. If you’re taking any over-the-counter pain medications more than two to three times a week, report that to your healthcare provider. They may suggest prescription medications that may be more effective.
Prescription drugs for migraine headaches include:
Triptan class of drugs :
- Co-enzyme Q10.
Drugs to relieve migraine pain come in a variety of formulations including pills, tablets, injections, suppositories and nasal sprays. You and your healthcare provider will discuss the specific medication, combination of medications and formulations to best meet your unique headache pain.
Drugs to relieve nausea are also prescribed, if needed.
All medications should be used under the direction of a headache specialist or healthcare provider familiar with migraine therapy. As with any medication, it’s important to carefully follow the label instructions and your healthcare providers advice.

What Are Headaches Behind Or Above The Left Eye
The term headache is used to describe any kind of pain in your head. The pain can affect just one side of your head or it can affect both sides at the same time.
According to Dr. Benjamin Wedro on MedicineNet, the pain on your left side of your head or right side originates from irritation or inflammation in the tissues and nerves in your head. Also, muscles around your right or left eye, sinuses and ears can also be a reason for headaches if they become strained or tired.1
Dr. Wedro says that there are 3 types of headaches that can affect a person:
- Primary headaches include migraines and cluster headaches that are commonly felt behind the left eye or right eye only.
- Secondary headaches are those that are caused by an infection or injury. For example, a blocked sinus on the left side of your head will cause pain above or below your left eye.
- Cranial neuralgia headaches are often caused by irritated or inflamed nerves and can cause facial pain and headaches on one side of your head.
Am I At Risk For Chronic Daily Headache
Anyone who has recurrent acute headaches and who uses short-acting medication or techniques to treat them is at risk of developing chronic daily headache, which is characterized by headache symptoms 15 or more days of the month over three months, notes an article published in February 2020 in Global Advances in Health and Medicine on Integrative EastWest Medicine Intervention for Chronic Daily Headache.
The two most common types of chronic daily headache are chronic migraine and chronic tension-type headache, although the two types often overlap. In other words, people diagnosed with chronic migraine often also have symptoms of chronic tension-type headache, and vice versa.
Individuals with chronic daily headache often also have a diagnosis of medication-overuse headache.
If your head pain or other symptoms cause you to frequently take short-acting medication, talk to your doctor about being referred to a headache specialist, who should be able to identify medical treatments as well as lifestyle or behavioral changes that can help to relieve your symptoms while also reducing your reliance on acute medications.
What Home Remedies Relieve Headache Pain
Some homeopathic, naturopathic, herbal, and other home remedies may be helpful in alleviating symptoms of a mild headache, for example, consuming drinks with caffeine, essential oils, avoid foods that are high in histamine, B-complex vitamins, cold compresses, magnesium, and drinking lots of water to avoid getting dehydrated.
However, use of those remedies that are not tested for safety or regulated by the Food and Drug Administration can be potentially dangerous and are not recommended. Without FDA regulation there is no control over the quality, dose, or ingredients. Scientific studies that document safety and effectiveness are not required prior to the sale of these unregulated products.
Although relatively safe, over-the-counter pain medicines all have potential side effects. Inappropriate use may have serious consequences. Always read the label and follow the recommended dosage.
Even nonprescription pain medicines can be dangerous if taken improperly or if taken for headache that is caused by certain diseases . Potential problems include overdose, overuse, cross-reactions with other medications , and toxic effects on various organs .
Aspirin is commonly prescribed by doctors after a stroke without bleeding and can prevent another stroke. Taking aspirin for undiagnosed severe headache may be dangerous. The severe headache could come from a bleeding stroke and taking aspirin may make the bleeding worse.
Are Migraines Hereditary
Migraines tend to run in families. As many as four out of five people with migraines have a family history. If one parent has a history of migraines, their child has a 50% chance of having them. If both parents have a history of migraines, the risk jumps to 75%. Again, up to 80% of people with migraines have a first-degree relative with the disease.
